Education Performance
Michael has taught guitar privately and led clinics in improvisation at Berklee School of Music, New England Conservatory, Boston, Ma., Case Western Reserve, Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Oh., and The New School of Social Research in New York City. Specializing in improvisation, guitar technique for jazz and classical music, basic sight reading, basic jazz theory, and world music exposure, his goal is to help students reach their highest potential in the art of creating pure music on their instrument.
Bocian has been awarded grants for performance concerts and composing through Meet The Composer, Great Lakes Art Alliance, The Jazz Coalition, WDR radio (Koln Ger.), private funding for recordings and promotional endeavors. He has also been featured in national and international radio interviews, jazz magazines, and has been a Voice Of America featured artist.
Michael has performed at notable venues such as, Lincoln Center Mirkin Concert Hall, Birdland, The Jazz Standard, BlueNote, New York City, Queen Elizabeth Hall, England, Bim House, Netherlands, Unterfart, Munich and WDR Radio, Koln, Germany, Bop Stop, Tri C festival, Cleveland Institute of Music, Ohio, Maui Arts Cultural Center, Hawaii, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Mass. and other local clubs throughout the USA. Michael's volition has been unfaltering in a life long dedication to study, explore, perform, compose and record improvised and written music.
